Easter 2011

Ryan has been talking about the Easter show for months and the time has finally arrived. I took Ryan there this morning and we were there for more than 4 hours. If you ask me, that's a lot of walking for a 4 year old. He had the time of his life and boy, what a big contrast to last year. He didn't want to go on any rides at the carnival area last year but this year, he went on all the kiddie rides... all by himself.

We started off with the pony ride. He told me weeks before that he will ride the pony and he's not going to be scared. I could tell he was really nervous when he was waiting for the pony and alas, he couldn't go through with it. We got refunded our money but then I showed him the kid that was riding and he decided he wanted to give it another try. He did but instead of doing two laps, he wanted to do just one. I was really proud of him for going through with it though. He was so funny when he was taking off his helmet. He said 'I did it' with such a great sense of achievement in his voice.

We then did the rest of the rides at the carnival. I told him that I had to take photos and couldn't go on them with him. I was quite surprise that he was ok to go on all the rides by himself. He even went on the kiddie roller coaster. You can probably tell from the photo that he was scared but he went on it again just before we left (I had coupons left over for another ride). The only ride he didn't go by himself was the dodgem cars and it was because he wasn't tall enough.

We also went indoor for the Cookie Bear rides. Again, he went on everything himself... except for one. He wanted to go on the pirate ship and I remember how scared he was last year so I said I will go on it with him. He loved it but poor mummy was feeling nauseous from it. For some reason, the pirate ship ride does that to me all the time. I told him that he will have to do that by himself next year and he said happily said ok.

I was so proud of my little boy. He was so good and well behaved the whole time. If only he is like that all the time (wishful thinking).
